He was another devoted Christian, missionary and Dominican priest that served in Philippines until he returned home during the persecutions to minister to new catholic. As one of the composer of modern Japanese dictionaries, he was arrested for spreading Christianity, tortured, and executed in 1633. He was cremated and ashes scattered in the sea. Jacobo was venerated in October 1980, beatified February 1981 and canonized October 1987. His feast day is 17th August.
